21 Day Fix: Day One. My Weight Loss Journey.

My weight loss journey using 21 Day Fix. This is Day One.

I recently attended a Luxury Health & Wellness Retreat, hosted by Autumn Calabrese in Santa Barbara, CA. I learned a lot about self-care, healthy eating, the importance of properly fueling my body, and met some incredible people. Autumn, her sister Calie, and their brother Bobby were all there. They are truly awesome people! Autumn is such a down to earth, no holds bar person. Calie is a sweetie. And turns out, yes, Bobby can cook!

Upon my return from this awesome wellness adventure, I caught that nasty flu that was going around. While I love traveling, I do not enjoy sharing recycled air on airplanes. So I've been miserable for about two weeks, but finally seem to be on the mend.

Part of the retreat was a personalized plan created by Autumn and Calie. I was working my way through the new 80 Day Obsession program (found on Beachbody On Demand) but ended up hurting my shoulder. In the personalized plan, Autumn suggested that I go back to do a few rounds of 21 Day Fix. One to give my shoulder a chance to heal, but also to facilitate losing a majority of the 34 pounds, then go back to 80 Day Obsession to round out my fitness.

So I decided to blog about my experiences as I follow the 21 Day Fix and lose 34 pounds (or however much is needed to feel great in my skin again).

A couple of disclosures: No I am not a Beachbody Coach. (I do have an awesome Beachbody Coach, Yvette Bernosky and her website is YvettesFitness.com) No, I am not affiliated with Beachbody in anyway other than as a paying customer for their Video on Demand service and Shakeology. No, I am not a medical professional and nothing on this website should be construed as medical advice.

This is my personal journey about trying to lose 34 pounds and my everyday life. The goal is to blog each day, followed by photos of what I ate and whatever else I feel is relevant (or not relevant, depending on how I feel).

Today is Day One. I am currently 41 years old and at 204.4 pounds with a goal weight of 170 pounds. I'm 5 ft 9 inches tall. My main reason for weight loss is a family history of diabetes and heart disease. Plus, I want to feel great in my own skin again and not have to shop in the Plus Size department. I would love to go shopping and feel great about the experience, instead of coming home in tears.

I've chosen 21 Day Fix because I feel it is a well rounded, clean eating, emphasize on portion control, healthy lifestyle eating plan. I am interested in changing my eating habits and creating lifestyle changes, not a diet I'll follow for a limited time and go back to old habits. I feel this plan will do just that. Not everyone will agree and that is fine. I am a true believer that there is no one right diet for everyone. If there was, we would all be skinny and healthy!

I am following Eating Plan B, which means I get 4 servings of vegetables (green container), 3 servings fruits (purple container), 4 servings of protein (red container), 3 servings of starchy carbs, 1 serving of nuts/dairy, 1 serving seeds/dressing, and 4 teaspoons of oils.

Here is what I had to eat today.

Breakfast at 8:15 AM.

Multi-grain Bread (1 yellow), Almond Butter (1 tsp), 1 banana (2 purples), 2 fried eggs (1 red)

Lunch at 12:00 PM.

Salad - spinach (1 green worth), cucumber, tomato and celery (combined 1 green), chia seed, sliced almonds and parmesan cheese (combined 1/2 blue), 2 hard boiled eggs (1 red), and vinagrette dressing (1 orange).

I had a couple of snacks spread out over the afternoon. I always have a mid-afternoon slump, partly due to boredom and partly due to in the habit of eating at that time. I generally crave something sweet. I find that drinking Shakeology really helps with this and with controlling my cravings. I didn't take a picture of everything.

Afternoon Snacks

Grapes (1/2 of a purple). The rest are not shown. Greenberry Shakeology (1 red), 1 celery stalk (1/2 a green), and 1/2 an Orange (1/2 purple).

Dinner at 6:00 PM. My sweetie beat me home from work and had started dinner. He made the most amazing meal, but not sure that it's really 21 Day Fix approved. It was fantastic, so I'm going with it!

Lamb Chops (1 red?), Roasted Brussel Sprouts with Olive Oil (1 green and 1 tsp), Roasted Purple Potatoes (1 yellow and 1 tsp), 1/2 slice of Multi-grain bread (1/2 yellow).

Today's workout was the 21 Day Fix: Total Cardio Core Fix. I was drenched when I was done. I worked out kind of late for me, around 9 PM. Normally, I like to work out right after work, but since my sweetie was volunteering to cook, I wasn't about to argue!
